CNA CAMPUS BY CNA938
PUBLISHED ON MELISTEN (LIVE)
My team of 4, including myself, created a podcast for CNA938 to be broadcasted on their radio show, CNA CAMPUS. We were given the overarching topic "Singapore Pop Culture" so we decided to talk about "The Rise of Podcasting In Singapore." We wanted to make our podcast relevant and engaging for our target audience of youths aged 18-30. We interviewed two newsmakers, who were creators themselves in the industry. Firstly we interviewed Shaqidah Wahab, a theatre student from LASALLE, podcaster of the show "backstage noises". Secondly, we interviewed Sabrina Shiraz, a working adult who owns her own podcaster show with her two friends. We wanted to hear when and why they started their podcasts, what challenges they faced and whether they hope to do it full-time. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I learnt and benefitted so much personally considering I am in charge of my own podcast show, Radiate909.
THE PROCESS
The Process took over 3 months, which is quite a long time but understandable as we had to go back and forth with our Client (CNA938), to get feedback and make changes.
In the brainstorming period, we actually wanted to go with another idea but after consultations with our supervisor in charge, we were able to narrow it down to a more relatable and relevant topic. We decided that it would have been ideal for my co-host Ash and myself to be the interviewers as we were more comfortable with speaking with our newsmakers. Additionally, I also edited the recordings to meet the client's expectations. Overall, I've learnt how different platforms (big news platforms compared to school/informal platforms) can affect the way we conduct these interviews.
